Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Educational Trust, Jammu in collaboration with Dera Baba Banda Singh Bahadur, Reasi, Baba Jatinder Pal Singh Sodhi and Dr. S S Pahwa, Coordinator, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Samparda Bharat, Rohtak, Haryana has decided to celebrate 352nd birth anniversary of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur in Jammu by involving entire civil society from Jammu area in the programmes being held on October 15-16, 2022.

Talking to media-persons here, former MLC and chairman of the BBSB Educational Trust, Charanjit Singh Khalsa said that in connection with the above programme, a seminar on the Life of great Sikh warrior, martyr and founder of Liberation Movement & Ist Sikh Raj in India, reformer of civil society, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur, endowed with the firm commitment to cause giving supreme sacrifice, example of which is hardly available in the world history, will be organized.

The seminar will be organized on Oct 15, at Gen Zorawar Singh Auditorium at University of Jammu at 3 pm in which Dr. Jaspal Singh, former Vice Chancellor, Punjab University Patiala and Dr. Parmaveer Singh, Head of Encyclopedia of Sikhism, Punjab University, Patiala will be the key speakers.

Dr. S S Pahwa, who too has worked on the life history of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur, will share his views and present findings of his research. On October 16, a grand Gurmat Samagam has been organized at Gurdwara Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Chand Nagar (Gumat) Jammu from 11 am to 3 pm. Two Ragi Jathas of Bhai Jagjeet Singh Noor and Bhai Sukhjit Singh of Darbar Sahib, Amritsar will recite Gurbani Kirtan. Several prominent religious personalities and preachers will also participate in the programme.

Banda Singh Bahadur, also called Lachman Das, Lachman Dev, or Madho Das, was the first Sikh military commander to execute an offensive war against the Mughal rulers of India. The Sikh community will celebrate his birth anniversary on 16 October 2022.

Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Ji was the most revered Sikh warrior and a commander of the Khalsa army to whom Guru Gobind Singh gave the name of Gurbaksh Singh. At a very young age, he left his residence and worldly pleasures to become an ascetic and was given the moniker Madho Das Bairagi.
